چکیده

Some biological effects of a new alkaloid, Vincaleukoblastine (VLB), are described. In mice bearing the transplantable leukemias L1210, P1534, and AKr or Ehrlich ascites tumor, treatment with VLB effectively prolonged survival. The effectiveness of treatment depended on the amount and spacing of dosage and the time of tininstitution of treatment after transplantation. A single injection of VLB was highly active, but hourly doses were probably the most effective. VLB was also active when incubated with tumor cells. Transplanted or spontaneous mammary tumors in C3H mice also showed a reduced growth during treatment with VLB. Mice "cured" of AKr or P1534 transplanted leukemia by treatment with VLB

Some biological effects of Vincaleukoblastine, an alkaloid in Vinca rosea Linn in patients with malignant disease.

The treatment of 22 patients with Vincaleukoblastine is described. The main toxic effects were noted at the sites of injection, on the blood, and on the nervous system. Severe granulocytopenia with little or no depression of platelets was noted in nearly all patients. In fifteen of the 22 patients the administration of Vincaleukoblastine had measurable effects on the malignant process. Partial ...

Antitumor principles derived from Vinca rosea Linn. I. Vincaleukoblastine and leurosine.

The experimental activity of a new clinically confirmed anti tumor compound, Vincaleukoblastine (C46HssOgN4), (VLB) as the sulfate has been described. Greatest activity was seen against the P-1534 acute lymphocytic leukemia in DBA/~ mice. Late as well as early stages of this leukemia were significantly affected by this compound. No synergistic or additive effects have been observed in combinati...

The stathmokinetic effect of vincaleukoblastine on normal bone marrow and leukemic cells.

Vincaleukoblastine (VLB) is a compound recently isolated from Vinca rosea L i n n . Chemical studies by Gorman et al. (6) indicated that it belongs to a new class of dimeric alkaloids containing both indole and dihydroindole moieties. VLB possesses a marked leukopenic effect, due to depression of leukopoiesis (4, 10). I t has been found that this alkaloid is active against several animal tumors...
